Wellsource Inc. was recently named a Platinum Level Fit Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association (AHA). The program recognizes employers that champion the health of their employees by providing workplace wellness programs.
It's the third year Wellsource has earned the Fit Friendly Worksite award. By making wellness program changes during the past year, Wellsource earned Platinum Level status for the first time.
Wellsource shares Platinum Level status with other Fit Friendly Worksites in the Portland area like Adventist Health, Cambia Health Solutions, Nike, Inc., and PacificSource Health Plans.
"This award is well-deserved by everyone at Wellsource," says Wellsource Wellness Consultant Shawn Meyers. "It's really a team effort to offer so many wellness initiatives like Lunch 'n' Learns, exercise classes, group hikes, and healthy snacks."
To earn the Fit Friendly Worksite award from the AHA, organizations must offer an employee wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy eating. To achieve Platinum Level status, employers must also demonstrate improvements in participation and behavior change and healthcare cost savings from year to year.
"We're proud to be part of a select group of companies in Oregon to receive the Fit Friendly Worksite Award," says Wellsource COO Chris McReynolds. "A lot of work goes into our wellness program and it's exciting to achieve this distinction among some top notch companies."
